Details of the itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Bwindi – Gorilla Tracking
You will wake up early for breakfast at your hotel and your guide/driver will pick you up between 4am and cross to Uganda through Kisoro or Kabale depending on the location of the gorillas you want to track. Request that your hotel/lodge staff wake you up on time to pack your lunch, sandwich or other snack. There will be briefing at the park offices 7:30am to 8am and is meant to guide you on how to act around the gorillas and what to expect during the tracking.
You will be divided in groups of 8 (or less depending on season) and will be assigned different gorilla groups to track depending on your fitness and preference. There are 20 habituated gorilla groups in Bwindi Park. Carry your hiking boots, long stockings, rain jacket, caps, and rain-proof pants. Park rangers will provide you with a trekking stick to help you hike through the rough roads of the forest. Porters can be hired at about 10USD to help relieve you of the burden of carrying extra heavy luggage. You will be with the gorillas for one full hour from the time of contact as you take photos and videos. You will then return to the park headquarters for your tracking certificate and our guide will pick you up and head back to hotel or Airport for departure in Kigali.
