Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Our professional tour guide will pick you up from Kigali International Airport , brief you on what your 3 days safari and head northwestwards to Volcanoes National Park Ruhengeri about 113 kilometers. The journey is a 2-3 hours’ drive away from Kigali. You won’t miss the beautiful sceneries of the rolling hills of Rwanda’s country side as you approach the Virunga Mountain ranges. Arrive early enough and check in at your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel or Kinigi Guesthouse.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes NP
Start your day with an early morning breakfast at the lodge and report to Kinigi park headquarters to have briefing from the park officials on the set guidelines to observe while in search for mountain gorillas. You will be assigned one gorilla family to trek in a group of 8 visitors. You will start your actual trek into the jungles in the jungles in search for the assigned habituated gorilla group with park ranger guides assigned to you. This activity may take you about 2-6 hours depending on your speed of hiking, nature of habitat and location of the gorillas among other factors. When you meet your gorilla group, you have one full hour of magical encounter and a chance for you to take as many pictures as possible, learn about their unique manners through their body gestures to mention. Later, return to where your trek began for your tracking certificate and connect to the lodge to have rest. In the evening, you can choose to pay a visit to scenic Twin Lake Burera and Ruhondo or simply chill around the lodge. Dinner and night stay at Muhabura Hotel/Kinigi Guesthouse.
Day 3: Visit to Iby’iwachu cultural village and Kigali city tour
After breakfast early in the morning at the lodge, you will pay a visit to the Iby’iwachu Cultural Village to explore in depth the unique history, traditions, culture and not to forget the most thrilling dances, music performances from the Rwandan local people. Later, drive to Kigali where you will embark on a city tour to one of the cleanest cities in Africa. You will also visit the genocide memorial site to explore the dirty history of happened during the 1994 Rwanda genocide and how the country has since recovered from that. You will later drive to the airport for departure.
