Day 1: Nyiragongo hiking to the summit
The driver will pick you at the hotel in Gisenyi town early in the morning and take you through Goma town to Virunga National Park headquarters for a short briefing where you will be given well knowledgeable guides to take you for the hike with a team of other guests. You will start the hiking at 10:30am if you use kibati starting point and this will take around 5 hours to get to the summit of Nyiragongo Mountain. Get ready to pass through a steep, muddy and slippery route, thorns and tall trees will be on the way. The peak of this mountain is the greatest point of the hike as you watch the strong fire frames of the most active volcanoes in the world. The best views of this are in the night. You will also enjoy great views of the surrounding communities with an aerial view at the time you reach at around 4-5PM. Dinner and accommodation at the mountain camp tents.
Day 2: Descend to the bottom and transfer to Kigali.
After a delicious breakfast from the summit, you will descend to the bottom at 6:30am which takes only 3 hours to meet your driver waiting for you to start the transfer back to Kigali town.
